Shops
The prime feature for version 6.1 has been the new storage system. It is however almost entirely invisible to users and does not really make anything better (yet) so to fix that a few other more visual improvements have been made.
One of those is the addition of model shops. It's already been possible for quite some time to record the name of the shop where a model was bought. It has however so far been a plain text string without any logic backing it and users could enter absolutely anything they wanted in the field. That is still possible, but now it will also be possible to select from a number of real hobby shops. The hobby shops are centrally managed and users can add their own local shops and then propose them as additions to the central shop database. This is a feature that's entirely optional to use, if you don't want to have real shop links in the app you can just ignore the field entirely or fill in any free text you want, just like before.
Shops contain some data, such as websites (in case of localized shops for different countries) and the possible physical address. The amount of data is kept small so that there's a better chance of it staying correct and relevant. Details like what kinds of models the shops sell, what brands etc have been left out as that data changes all the time and would never stay up to date. Still not decided if a shop should be able to have multiple physical stores, or if these all would be different shop entries?
In the future the shop data will be used to let users group models based on the shop they were bought in as well as do some fun shop statistics.
